The Cherry-Roubaix cannot happen without our vast pool of talented and dedicated volunteers. This year we need more volunteers, since the event spans three days with the addition of Downtown Sprints and a charity ride benefiting Munson's Women’s Cancer Fund. The Cherry-Roubaix weekend is also part of the inaugural Third Coast Bicycle Festival. Needless to say, there will be a lot going on for all cyclists the week of August 22nd - 29th.
To thank you and entice you to help out, Specialized Bikes and McLain's Cycle are giving away a brand new Specialized Haul. All Cherry-Roubaix volunteers are automatically registered for a chance to win! The drawing for the lucky winner will be held at our Volunteer Appreciation Party (date to be announced). You don't have to be present at the party to win, but we would love to have you there.

Women racers – You Spoke, We Listened! The Cherry Roubaix is committed to the sport of cycling and growing women’s racing in our state. For 2010 we are planning to have 3 women’s categories for the road race that will include a separate Cat 3 Women’s field. Women racing in this field will be scored separately, racing for their own prizes, and will have their own lap count! What more could you ask for ladies???!!!

Non-Racers, the Cherry Roubaix folks wanted to offer you the opportunity to ride in beautiful northern Michigan. This fundraiser is a friendly ride that takes the cyclists out on to Old Mission Peninsula and back. It is a dedicated route of 20 or 40 miles with stops to re-fuel and enjoy some delicious food and amazing scenery. Support vehicles will be available. This ride starts early Saturday morning at the Park Place Hotel and will finish in time to watch the start of the crit! What a great opportunity to raise money for the Munson Women’s Cancer Fund. Just a reminder – having fun is mandatory!

The Cherry-Roubaix has re-designed their crit course. The Start/Finish will be on Union Street in the heart of Old Town Traverse and will wind through the neighborhood nearby. Just to keep things interesting we have included the cobbles. The new course is in close proximity to the old one so it will be easy to find. This crit will be fast and fun so be sure to sign up and race for a chance to win some great cash and prizes!

We have recognized that the Cat 5 categories have been filling up around the state and your Cherry Roubaix team would like to accommodate the new racers. There will be two categories available for Men's Cat 5 - under 35 and over 35. If you are a new racer and have been thinking about trying a road race, this is your chance. Don't miss this opportunity!

The Cherry-Roubaix, McLain's Cycle and Specialized are giving away a brand new Specialized Roll fixed gear bike to the fastest sprinter in the fixed gear category. Remember brakes and helmets are required on all bikes.

Don't miss the sprints on Friday night. We are giving away two (yes two) Big Screen TV's donated by Max's Service! The fast and furious cyclists will be going head-to-head, through downtown Traverse City, for one city block. Who will claim the title of the "Fastest Legs in Town"? You can find out at the finish line on Front Street. Friday Night Sprints and Friday Night Live all in one evening! The crowds will be in the thousands cheering you on. Don't miss the excitement! The sprints will be elimination style and we will have 4 categories of racers. Men, Women, Juniors and Fixed Gear. The sprints are $20 to race and you get a $5 discount if you sign up for another Cherry-Roubaix race.
